This week:
1. Continue with your field trips and interviews and share your findings with your mentors.
2. Work on synthesizing your understanding based on all the information you have discovered during the Finding Out stage. You will use the thinking routine 'I used to think' and 'Now I know' to help you to see how your thinking and understanding have changed. You need to make sure you have gathered enough evidence and acquired enough knowledge. Following this, you will rank your information and decide what is the most important ‘stuff’ you have learned.
One way to decide what the most important ‘stuff’ you have learned is by writing generalizations. A generalization is a bit like a central idea. You use the sentence starter
‘Now we understand that…..’
And think of the best ways to finish the sentence. Think back to your unit on electricity. If you were using this approach then maybe your sentences would have sounded like this:
3. Remember to check that your group has uncovered a variety of different perspectives based on last week's compass activity: Nature, Well-being, Society and Economy.
4. Begin Thinking about your Arts Component and choose your artistic format. Have a look at the description for the Arts Component in the 'For Students' tab and the descriptions added there by teachers about their subjects by Ms Zippy, Ms Sally, Ms Dingelstad and Ms Michelle. This week your group will have to decide what form of the arts you wish to use to express your understanding. On Monday you will be given time to choose your option. Tuesday periods 7 & 8 during ICE block you will go to your chosen art format in your exhibition group.

- Now we understand that electricity requires a circuit to work.
- Now we understand that metals conduct electricity but plastic and
wood insulate electricity.
- Now we understand that one form of energy changes into another form
of energy, electricity usually comes from movement energy.
